WELCOME TO THE RAINWATER HARVESTING FAMILY!
Below is a brief description of system maintenance for your rainwater collection system.
--Keep the gutters clean. If the gutters have screens, check that they are not clogged. A leaf blower does the job!
--Drain the conveyance lines often, specifically in summertime. Stagnant water in the pipes for more than a week or so will allow mosquitoes to breed in the line. The mosquitos may end up in your tank if the pipes are not periodically emptied out.
Just open the low point drain valves and let the water out. (Good time to water your trees, etc.)  If You have a dry system, you can skip this part!
--clean the first flush box after major rain events. Drain the bottom of the box by opening the valve. Clean and dry the filter. Set the filter back and tighten the lid screws.
--Maintain the filtration system:
Replace sediment filter every six months.
Replace carbon filter every 12 months.
Replace UV light bulb every 14 months or watch the UV counter for a number of days to replace.
